OUR STORY
Where It All Began
For co-owner Candice, Long Beach has always been home. From childhood summers at Mother's Beach and Christmas lights along the Naples Canals to family celebrations on Second Street, her connection to the community runs deep. Growing up surrounded by the arts, local culture, and the creative energy of Southern California, choosing Belmont Shore as the home for Alf's Body Art Studio felt only natural.
Alongside her husband Alfredo, the studio's lead tattoo artist, Candice helped establish the first tattoo studio on Second Street. What began as a shared vision has grown into a family-owned creative space dedicated to custom tattoos, body art, and self-expression.
Nearly five years later, Alf's has become part of the neighborhood Candice has loved for decades, bringing together talented artists, individuality, and a shared appreciation for creativity in the heart of Long Beach.
The Heart Behind the Art
Behind Alf's Body Art Studio is a partnership built on art, family, and community. While Alfredo brings his artistic vision and years of tattooing experience to the studio, Candice brings a lifetime of creative exploration and business experience behind the scenes.
Her background spans music, dance, theater, nonprofit arts programs, and business development. From studying art history while living in Florence, Italy, to working alongside a professional visual artist in Los Angeles, Candice has spent much of her life immersed in creative communities. Today, she brings those experiences into supporting the artists at Alf's and helping their individual talents flourish.
As an active member of the Belmont Shore Business Association and a collaborator with the Long Beach Visitors Bureau, Candice continues finding ways to connect the studio with the community and bring more art to Second Street.
Together, Candice and Alfredo are building something bigger than tattoos: a welcoming creative home where artists can grow, individuality is celebrated, and every client feels part of the family.
Their hope is to see Alf's become a legacy studio, rooted in Long Beach for decades to come.
